Clinical System Change

From Wednesday 24th June 2026, our practice will be moving to a new clinical system: Medicus

We are proud to announce that we will be migrating from our current system (SystemOne) to Medicus - a next
generation electronic patient record (EPR) system developed specifically for the NHS.
This move is in keeping with our ongoing commitment to using technology in ways that support patient care,
improve efficiency, and reduce unnecessary administrative burden.

Why are we changing?
Our current electronic patient record system, although widely used, is no longer fit for the needs of modern
general practice. Many patients will have noticed the growing trend of national GP computer meltdowns - not
only happening more often, but hitting harder each time.

As the demands on primary care grow, we need a system that is:
Built on global open standards,
Robust and reliable
Powered by modern cloud architecture, and
Designed to reduce delays, improve safety, and enable clinicians to focus more on patient care rather
than paperwork.

Medicus meets all of these requirements - helping us work more efficiently, communicate better across the
NHS, and provide safer, faster care for our patients.

A Safe and Nationally-Supported Transition
This migration is being overseen and supported by NHS England and our Integrated Care
Board. It is a carefully managed process designed to maintain safety and minimise disruption to services.

We take clinical safety and data security extremely seriously. Medicus complies with the highest standards of
information governance, including:
ISO 27001 certification
Cyber Essentials Plus
NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance
Full alignment with UK GDPR
All patient records will be securely transferred to the new system, and your confidentiality and privacy
will remain fully protected.

When is this happening?
We will go live with the new system on Wednesday 24th June 2026
We anticipate minimal disruption, but we do appreciate your patience in the week following the switch as our
team gets fully up to speed with the new system.

What can you do to help?
There are a few simple steps you can take to make the transition as smooth as possible:
Download the NHS App if you haven’t already - it’s the easiest and most secure way to access your
records, request repeat prescriptions, and receive messages from us.
Check and update your contact details, especially your email address. Most of our communications in
future will be sent via the NHS App or email, rather than text message.
